Mirrored Images

I often question how the people in my life reflect parts of myself. Is that true? In many ways, if they reflect parts of me then I feel very lucky. It also challenges me to hold a high standard for myself so that when they see me they are proud of what I reflect in them. If it’s true. It’s quite a unique balance and each person requires a different amount of time, energy, work, love, and caring. And, of course, I look for something unique from each person.

These photos are double exposures on medium format film. I wanted to capture the people I saw in the year leading up to my 40th birthday. I also wanted to be in the photo with each person yet not at the exact same time. So I took a photo of each person and each person took a photo of me, layering the same frame on film using my favorite of all cameras, my Rolleiflex.
It has been pure joy creating these! Thank you to those who collaborated with me on this particular photo project. More are already being developed and I hope this will continue to grow throughout the years ahead.

THANK YOU for being in my year and in my life! Who are the reflections in your Mirrored Images?
